Marriage Proposal at the Top of Gaviota Peak! #shesaidyes!

What an adventure! When I was asked to hike to the peak, I said YES! I love adventure & going to a new place is always appealing to me! I had intentions of hiking before this big day, but never had time. I knew I could go 3 miles up, even though the groom to be/bachelor no more, let me know it was strenuous. 8.68 miles later, my legs were done!

The day began... I was excited to be a part of this super big surprise! I love secrets! The future groom & I set set out about 45 minutes before the unsuspecting bride to be & her future mother in law. The rest of it is told through my photos (I hope!). It's a pretty intimate moment in two lives, so I tried to keep it that way and hang back so the moment could be theirs :)

He thought of everything too! Champagne, a toasting cup for me, a change of clothes for both of them, blanket, and oh yes the ring! The emotions in the photos are genuine & raw :) I just captured it all and then some... the scenery was breathtaking! Oh wait, that was the hike! LOL But I couldn't resist putting in lots of the beauty and awesomeness I found along the way :)

Oh, by the way, she said YES!

Travel, Flowers, Food & People!

The mix of travel, flowers, food & people, who could ask for more?! All the things I love to photograph and all in the same place! Last year I traveled all over the country to photograph Field To Vase Dinners for The California Cut Flower Commission & what an awesome experience it was! I know this is a little late getting to my blog, but better late than never!

We went from a New York City rooftop, to Colorado during monsoon season, to Seattle Washington while surrounded by fields of dahlias, to many locations in California like Monterey, Fallbrook, Carpinteria & in Carlsbad, we sat in the middle of a ranunculus field! And I have to say that Virginia was my absolute FAVORITE! Maybe it was the fact that we were sitting adjacent to the field that The Battle of Bull Run (I think that's the battle) took place during the Civil War! Or maybe it was because there was a super cool barn? (I have a fetish for barns & all things rustic!) Again, we were amidst more dahlia flowers & some of the coolest people I have ever met :)

The 1st dinner started in Carpinteria, California & has taken off to become a tour now, all over the country! It is such an amazing experience for the guests and it starts with a tour of the farm, then a brief floral arrangement demonstration, and then we sit down at the most beautiful table, designed by a local floral designer, like Christina Stembel owner of Farmgirl Flowers, and served a tasty meal by a local chef like Marissa Gerlach! Each one is more appealing than the last! Yet, the last one was the best! Every dinner came from fresh local farms, picked that day! The wines were local & the flowers too! If you are thinking you missed the boat on this fantastic experience, it's not too late! Go to: http://www.americangrownflowers.org/fieldtovase/

The whole concept came from wondering how do we get the word out on getting Americans to buy American Grown flowers again? Well, this is certainly one way! We have gotten press from The Wall Street Journal to Sunset Magazine! Telling the country to come to this magnificent dinner, all the while being educated on why to buy our flowers from our local farmers right here in the USA! And it's working :) I only buy the flowers that have the CA Grown sticker on them now, do you?

I had a really hard time trying to pare down all the photos I took throughout the tour! It's my job to not only capture the essence of the dinner, but also the food, the people, and of course the flowers! It took days for me to get it down to this many & I know I know, it's still too many! LOL! By the end of these photographs you might be sick of flowers, food & happy people, but my hope is that I leave you wanting more!!!!!!

Photographing Flower Farmers

Yay! I love finding new clients organically through existing clients :) I have met Joseph & Sons flower farmers on numerous occasions and was so excited when they contacted me to photograph their beautiful flowers & family :) Photographing flowers is one of my favorite things to shoot, so the pleasure was all mine! They even adopted me into their family! Ok, I made them, but that's not the point ;] We had so much fun during the photo session that they even took me to lunch (at 10am...they told me this is lunchtime for farmers:) And back to work, shooting for their extensive catalog of amazing flowers :)

If you need your business photographed, think of me ;) Oh, and then hire me to create amazing photos of your fabulous brand! :)

Here are some of the photos from Joseph & Sons photo shoot! http://josephnsons.com/

I'm Shooting Politicians!

With my camera of course ;) I love shooting new things and this was definitely a new one for me! Photographing Justin Fareed's ad campaign was a treat to witness, capture & be a part of in Solvang, CA. They brought the real deal from Hollywood to film it with directors, camera, sound and hair & make-up artists! I had to sign a contract that wouldn't allow me to talk about or release any photos... until NOW! Once the ad ran on TV, I was allowed to post all the photos I want :) So here are a few behind the scene shots I am sharing :) I will say this... I am not politically inclined, but I really do like Justin Fareed as a human being :) Good luck Justin!

QUIET ON THE SET! Was actually said :) And many takes on the voice-over had to be made because of the horses whinny-ing in the background! It was actually very entertaining ;)
